Internet via Bluetooth on tablet BQ Edison 3

Tablet: BQ Edison 3

Problem: Tablet is able to get internet via wifi but not via bluetooth.

Reason: It is missing the needed bluetooth profile and when connected to a phone offering internet via bluetooth the only option on the tablet is "file transfer" and "remote audio".

Bluetooth consumes much less power than wifi (on both devices) and for such a simple connection (just 2 devices), if you are going to be connected for long time it is worth the hassle to use Blueetooth.

Research:
I tried different things to get it to work (the tablet is rooted) but none seemed to work.

Until I found this

Solution:

It its tricky, because you need to connect to a wifi network (even if it does not give internet) for the OS and most applications to believe they have connectivity (that is a bug on the OS, nothing to blame the App for), but IT DOES WORK.

You install 2 components, one on the phone, one on the tablet and configure them.

I wanted to write this post talking about it because:
- There may be many people with the same tablet / problem (an old tablet with no OS upgrades available)
- The programmer of the App (PanJava) deserves some free promotion of his nice App.

Thank you PanJava.
